The gap this closes

A loose PDF cannot establish its own provenance.

A search report usually ends up as a loose PDF in someone's downloads folder, carrying no record of what was searched, at which office, through what date, what it cost, or whether the file changed after it arrived. When a facility gets questioned months later, the person who ran the search may no longer be there, and the report cannot establish its own provenance. SearchTrace records the search parameters you supply, pairs them with the receipt, and fixes the file bytes with SHA-256 so the package can be re-checked without re-running anything.

How a pack is built

Preserve the official output. Do not reinterpret it.

We work only from what you send: the official filing-office search report, the receipt, and your manifest. We transcribe the search parameters exactly as they appear, compute SHA-256 for every file, and assemble a scope summary. We do not re-run the search, contact the filing office, or interpret what the results mean.

Describe

Keep the exact debtor name, jurisdiction, filing office, report date, and official through date.

Inventory

Pair the report with its receipt and list every file by role, media type, byte size, and SHA-256.

Bound

State the search logic and exclusions printed by the source. Unknown stays unknown.

Re-check

Recompute hashes later to determine whether the received files are byte-identical.
