Plain Take
Notes on your self-tape, for $12.
The promise
You pay $12. You paste a link to one audition tape. Within 24 hours you get a private page of specific notes: what is working, and one fix in each part. No coach on a call. Nobody you know has to watch it.
What you get
The notes are one page. They cover framing, light, sound, slate, eyeline, pacing, choices, the three strongest moments, and what a casting assistant sees in the first ten seconds. Each part has one fix.
This is a sample of the format, written for an imaginary tape. The actor is not real. Read the full sample.
Framing
At three seconds the top of the head is cut off. By twenty seconds there is a wide gap above the hair, and the counter cuts across the chest.
One fix: set the laptop so the eyes sit about a third of the way down the picture, and mark that spot.
First ten seconds
A casting assistant sees a dark face, a cut-off forehead, and a scene that starts with no slate. They do not know your name yet.
One fix: slate first, in the light, with the eyes placed, before any line of the scene.
